The Pointe Coupee Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by a group of interested local citizens in 1975.  Its mission is to foster interest in history, particularly that of Pointe Coupee Partish; encourage collection and preservation of objects and structures historically significant to Pointe Coupee Parish; encourage the study, preservation and practice of customs that define the culture and natural history of the parish; present educational and cultural programs to the citizens of Pointe Coupee for the enrichment of lives and the furthering of education; and maintain the Julien Poydras Museum and Arts for the benefit of the parish.  

Your contribution makes possible that work of the historical society and demonstrates your commitment to the cultural enrichment of our parish.  Our ongoing efforts include:

  • Conservation of historical documents

  • Roundtable history discussions

  • Lectures, concerts, and educational programs

  • Placement of historic markers
