The Pointe Coupee Historical Society has been awarded a $10,000 Disaster Mitigation Grant. Funding for this 2021 Disaster Mitigation grant has been provided b the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and administered by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH). The PCHS will use this money to fix the roof, paint the front porch and shore up the building before another disaster occurs.

The Pointe Coupee Historical Society is very excited to announce that the Loiuisiana Endowment of the Humanities has selected the Historical Society to receive a Louisiana Culture Care Fund Grant of $7000. Funding for Louisiana Culture Care Fund grants has been administered by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) and provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP)and the NEH Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) initiative. The purpose of the grant is to provide emergency relief funds to support the general operation of the Historical Society. The PCHS owns the Poydras Center. A primary source of income is rental of the Poydras Auditorium and meeting rooms, which were impacted by pandemic restrictions. This grant will help pay for equipment replacement and roof repairs.
